Nice work Jules. How do you define 'Australian' though? I had a look through the last list when I was putting together 'my' list of bloggers by region (http://www.dpdialogue.com.au/zakazukhazoo/the-complete-list-of-australian-marketing-interwebs-bloggers-sorted-by-region/) and quite a few seemed to be overseas. And do you reckon Alexa is relevant to an Australian audience, given that most of their data is from the US and few Australians use it?

i think there's a huge need for more critique on the pioneer score. there's a massive difference in the quality, originality, regularity of content on these blogs but the pioneer score doesn't reflect this.

You should do a post about that jacket youtube video

Thanks, Jules. As always.

@Matt, Australian is defined as living in Australia or being from Australia.

In terms of Alexa, until there is a better system that has a measure of traffic I am going to continue using it.

@Ben Pioneers, I am happy with, you are probably right that there needs to be a little more difference between scores.

@anon I am going to write a post about it soon. I think it will be a good lead into the Ad:Tech panel I will be sitting on; Effects of Transparency: Cash for Comment and Dark Marketing Debate

@jye thanks for being a part of it mate!

Hey Jules, an Alexa ranking is relevant to a list like the AdAge Power 150 because you can get enough data out of a sample of the busiest blogs in the world to make it meaningful, but in our neck of the woods the score is as good as meaningless. I totally appreciate the work that goes into this list (and thank you!) but wouldn't factoring in the number of comments a site receives, or even the number of backward links pointing to it offer a better indication of value than the number of people using IE and the Alexa toolbar who visited it?

matt jones said...

Thanks for the listing Jules. It's good to be part of the conversation...

Julian Cole said...

Hey Matt,

I already measure back links already with technorati

If you find a tool that measures the number of comments than I will be more than happy to use it.

Alexa is the best measure for Australian/Worldwide traffic. So I will continue using it till I find something that is more accurate!

critique aside - it's a good list of the blogs out there. good one jules.

Hey Jules, Would love it if you could add my blog to the list, I did a rough comparison to some near the bottom and I reckon I should be on there somewhere, even if it is 130, would love to know where I sit.

Hey Simon, So sorry I forgot to put your blog on the list, I will make sure that it goes on the next update of the list.

Wow, considering my new blog has been up for what, a week? that's not bad. And thanks for the high rating Jules :) Who cares what Google, Alexa, Technorati think...? :P

Users will be able to create their own search engines indexing particular types of data, a single site, or a set of particular sites because now Alexa is giving access to their crawler to the users and the visitors. Alexa came to this conclusion as a result of some tests that they were conducted on their web search platform. By using Alexa’s search and publication tools users can search and process innumerable number of documents apart from being able to create their own search engine. The users can also store large number of web data as Alexa provides compute and storage resources as well. Users can avail of this service by registering for the beta by filling up a form on the site.

Thanks Julian! & thanks to everyone else on this list for providing great content and generally doing good for this industry :)

Not sure how many people read those blogs on a daily basis.
I read B&T, The Inspiration Room, AdNews, Campaign Brief and sometimes maybe Australian Creative.
Loyalty is more important, which comes down to providing great content.

Any chance of putting the "S" in The Inspiration Room Julian? We've had the same problem in a couple of other lists. Would be much appreciated.

Hi Julian,

Thanks again for posting this list. I think that our blog at 87 though it supposed to be Slice Media not Slide Media? Would you mind double checking?
